TREE TRUNK GARDEN HOUSE

Greetings from The Netherlands! 🙂
TREE TRUNK GARDEN HOUSE

It is no secret that we at The Casa Club love seeing container homes on Instagram. So when we saw this house making its rounds on IG as a container home we just had to do more research. It’s a pretty attention-grabbing home!

So imagine our surprise when we found out that the Tree Truck Garden House was really a tiny house on wheels; not built with a container! And since we share non-traditional homes here, may we introduce you to our feature for today! 🙂

Built by Piet Hein Eek in 2010 and located in Hilversum, TheNetherlands, the Tree Trunk Garden Home is a the a log house study custom made for Dutch musical performer Hans Liberg. This music studio on wheels has a hide-and-seek exterior and bright work-all-day interior.

From the architect:

It sometimes happens that you are asked to produce something you have actually wanted to do for some time. A customer called and asked if we could build a log shack in his field, one that would be large enough to sit and write inside. I loved the idea from the start. Oddly enough, we’ve recently received quite a few questions about the log shack we produced years ago. That shack has been added to the collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. And now we’ve constructed one as a stack of logs standing in a pasture at the edge of the woods. Not long after that, we sold a version of the shack I had wanted to design for quite a while, this time in a different size and made of birch.

As the shack began to take shape, so did the enthusiasm of all those involved in its construction or who saw it. The windows and shutters are what really make the difference. The sliding windows are fitted into specially designed frames, although “specially designed” is somewhat of an exaggeration for the simple plastic and steel profiles.

The design boasts efficient prefab construction and contemporary finishes.  Set on wheels, the studio has a rough-hewn exterior that artfully creates the sense that the structure is a simple stack of log rounds. The structural element is a salvaged steel frame and the walls are painted plywood. The Tree Trunk Garden House kindles a creative spark and reminds us how beautiful small-space living can be.

So not a container home but a very unique tiny house on wheels! Add a bathroom and we are ready to order one! 🙂

So what do you think? Would you live here?
