The first thing we noticed about this Indiana container home is the mid-century modern style that is pulled off so well. The slanted roof is such a wonderful touch and gives this house a look that is both classic and modern at the same time. This is a design that is tailor made for shipping containers and the designers here have done such a great job of adapting to it.

The profile that this Indiana container home strikes on the hillside is absolutely stunning. There is something about the way the containers are staggered that gives in an off-kilter but still balanced look. It also allows the home to have those three amazing deck areas that are crucial to any home that is built in this style.

We love this rear facade because of its complete lack of pillars. While the front porch area has them, the way these levels are set together gives this home more of a sculpture feeling than a house and we love how it is able to pull this idea off structurally. The windows on the second floor are unusually placed as well, and it makes for a really interesting look.

While the back is beautiful, the front has its own look altogether. The melding of the wood and the white metal has such a vintage feel and we think the colors are perfectly contrasted with one another. One of the dangers of modern design is that it can remove any sort of organic feeling. This Indiana container home doesn’t fall into that trap at all.

One of the things this Indiana container home does very well is use asymmetrical window placement. To be able to pull this off is a real art and the designers have done incredibly well here. The combination of large and small windows on this front facade is balanced really nicely and doesn’t look unusual at all.

As you can see, this Indiana container home started off much in the same way a lot of shipping container houses do. A total of 9 recycled containers were used to put together the actual structural aspects of this home. By balancing and reinforcing them, the designers were able to pull off the incredibly unique house you are seeing up above.

This house looks awesome enough during the day, but at night it is absolutely stunning. This is where the unique window placement really shines. They function as little accent points throughout the facade of the home and give it its shape at night in a really interesting way. Plus, the welcoming lighting on the front porch shows off just how inviting this modern home really is despite its unique appearance.

We can’t go any further without mentioning this incredible front door. While so many elements of this Indiana container home function as accent pieces, this door really steals the show. The beautifully designed glass inlay and carved design draws the eye inward and functions as something that ties this whole front porch together in a really exciting way.

If the outside of this Indiana container home is modern, the inside is practically spage-age. We love how everything that is promised on the exterior is fully realized on the interior. The sparse lighting and corrugated ceilings are incredibly contemporary and do a great job of lighting up the inside of this house.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the interior, though, is the staircase. The wire railings mixed with the wood steps continue on with that mix of organic and modern that we see on the outside facade. It helps bring a touch of warmth to the interior and gives off a nice feeling of connection with the outdoors.

Just like the rest of this Indiana container home, the kitchen is thoroughly modern and features an amazing accent piece. The breakfast bar features the same corrugated metal that adorns the outside facade and the ceilings. This clever nod to the shipping container construction is a wonderful use of materials and we think it was a great choice.

This Indiana container home also features an office and a movie room for even more functionality and space. One of the things this house has a lot of is room for activities and living. We think these extra areas are a great addition that really give the interior its personality.

The bedroom is right off that top deck area and gives the owner their own space for enjoying mornings or evenings right from bed. Features like this are what make modern homes so interesting. They are designed to be visually stunning, but also beautiful at the same time.
